You want it to close your notebook tight. Don’t make it too loose, after all it is elastic and stretching. Do measure how long the elastic band/cord has to be to cover your notebook properly. The original Midori notebooks have a elastic cord to close but I found a wider piece of elastic band in my stash that seemed nice for my Fauxdori so I decided to go with that.
